STRINGS RESONANCE

A special musical performance featuring a series of solo and duet pieces inspired by a vision of converging Eastern and Western musical traditions into a seamless, harmonious whole that reflects the universal nature of humankind.

Renaud Garcia-Fons

Often referred to as "The Paganini of double bass," the largest bowed stringed instrument in the orchestra, world-renowned double bassist Renaud Garcia-Fons is a musical virtuoso who is equally comfortable with contemporary classical music, jazz, and South West European Folklore. Living and working out of Paris, France, Garcia-Fons possesses superb technique and presents a fresh and unique sound that combines pizzicato, percussion, and harmonics never before heard on a five string acoustic bass.

Claire Antonini

An expert in eastern music and a master lutenist, Claire Antonini studied the lute and ancient music with Antoine Geoffroy Dechaume. She later studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon with such figures as Ferré, Gérard Geay, and Robert Crawford Young. She performs regularly in France and abroad, and is a contributor to several diverse musical ensembles. She currently teaches at the Academy of Music of Chelles, where she directs the Department of Ancient Music.
